Taking photos of OOAK dolls needs lighting and generally results in boring backgrounds. So for some time wasting creative activity I like to playing with backgrounds occasionally.

I have never been a graphic designer and follow step-by-step tutorials on how to add backgrounds via Photoshop. Depending on the challenge at hand, I do one YouTube video at a time, not from any particular resource until I manage to achieve something semi-realistic.

Here are a few of my attempts!

These first three are of my own OOAK doll Abika Ladibird. I want to give her some life through her European travels, plus practice shadows and blending into backgrounds.

Personally I prefer this second one with Abika at a contemporary building, everyone else likes the first one.

Kalina and the piano. This beautiful clay ball joint doll came with this amazing black outfit. I made the lamp next to her and found this vintage children’s toy piano as my initial photo. The background is from yoyo wallpaper and together makes a very romantic scene.

Surrea at Warnambool. Here I photographed Surrea (my resin Enchanted doll) with some seashells and then superimposed it on this striking photo of Warnambool rockpools. I had created her dress and jewelry to represent this wonderful place.
