Kinglake series 1: “When hell breathed”

Kinglake series 1: “When hell breathed”

The day hell visited … It was gripping near and far.

This mural is a burnt image using a pyrographic tool onto bluegum veneer. When visiting Kinglake after the devastating fires I found some molten aluminium and glass and have embedded these into the finish.

This image depicts the emptiness one feels when walking through the fire affect zones and the hopelessness when you recall the fury of the heat and the wind, the day hell visited. It was gripping near and far.

You can read about the Black Saturday bush-fires in my blog.
